Our Story

About the studio: KSD opened in July in 2011, We are honored to open our doors & extend a warm welcome to all of our community! KSD offers a complete curriculum of ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics, hip hop
& contemporary. We have specially designed Creative Movement, Preschool Programs, & Combination Classes for the younger dancers. Our hope is to instill in our students a love & appreciation for the art of dance & inspire them to be brave and achieve their highest potential in dance and in life.
Along with a dance education, dancers learn invaluable lessons of confidence, courage, dedication, persistence & perseverance. While we pride ourselves on producing quality dancers, we also hope our students leave our instruction having gained much more than just excellence in dance training. We consider each dancer a blessing & we thank you for the opportunity to teach your children. Our Classes

Creative Movement: Ages 2+

This class offers an introduction to dance. Students will begin learning basic rhythm/timing, coordination, and self-expression. Creative Movement will consist of Ballet and Tumbling. Attire: Solid Color Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Leather Ballet Shoes, Tutu if desired

Preschool: Ages 3-4

Course consists of Ballet, Tap, and Tumbling. Students will learn the fundamentals of rhythm/timing and coordination. This class provides a wonderful foundation for students choosing to further their dance education. Attire: Solid Color Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Leather Ballet Shoes, White Tap Shoes, Tutu if desired

Combination: Ages 5-6

This is a Comprehensive Stage Arts course consisting of Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Acrobatics. Dancers will study all phases of dance and will learn the basics of each discipline. This Class will leave students with the groundwork for success in any and all disciplines of dance they wish to pursue further. Attire: Solid Color Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Leather Ballet Shoes, Tan Tap Shoes, Tutu if desired

Ballet

ALL STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO TAKE BALLET. Ballet is the technical basis for the art of dance. Ballet contributes highly to a dancers grace, poise, and balance. Students will learn body placement and lines, as well as develop correct ballet technique through Barre work, Center Floor, and Progressions. Attire: Black Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Split-Sole Ballet Shoes, hair pulled back neatly in a bun *Any students wishing to enroll in pre-pointe or pointe must also be enrolled in ballet.

Tap

Tapping focuses on footwork. Students are taught expression of rhythm and timing through sound. Students will learn Basic Tap Sounds, Tap Steps, Progressions, and Choreography. Attire: Tight fighting dancewear, no t-shirts, oxford style tap shoes

Jazz

This class consists of body conditioning exercises, jazz technique, and choreography. Jazz class is energetic and enhances all dancers’ flexibility, stamina, and style. Includes stretching, turning, and progressions. Attire: Tight fitting dancewear, no t-shirts, Caramel Slip-on Jazz shoes

Acrobatics

All dedicated acro students display growth in their strength, flexibility, and balance. Includes standing tricks and tumbling passes. A compliment to any dancer’s training. Acrobatic students must also be enrolled in a second subject. Attire: Tight fitting dancewear, no t-shirts, Caramel Slip-on Jazz shoes

Hip Hop

A freestyle form of dance that is relaxed, yet very energetic. Hip Hop includes breaking, locking, and popping. This class will emphasize body isolations, self-expression, and style. Attire: Comfortable dancewear, tennis shoes or combat boots

Contemporary

This class places focus on expression and emotion rather than technique. Freedom of movement reigns over body placement. Attire: Comfortable dancewear, no t-shirts, Caramel Slip-on Jazz shoes, no shoes, socks, or dance paws. *Students must be enrolled in Ballet or Jazz in order to qualify for Contemporary

Tiny Tumbling: Ages 3-5

NEW THIS SEASON! We have developed a tumbling curriculum perfect for our younger dancers. This class will expand on our preschool/combination classes . All dancers registering for Tiny Tumblers must also be enrolled in a preschool or combination class.

Our curriculum is designed for dancers ages 2 and up.
